KASHMIRI FOOD FESTIVAL AT JW MARRIOTT CHANDIGARH IN ASSOCIATION WITH CHEF REHMAN MUJEEBUR: AN EXCLUSIVE REPORT BY: KHATIBAH REHMAT.
Let us talk about Kashmir coming down to Chandigarh. You must be thinking what am I talking about? Kashmir, Chandigarh, etc. etc. Yes it’s a bit confusing but, I will make it clear to you. You all have read about Chef Rehman Mujeebur in REFT Today’s early stories, so he is that amazing man who brought a traditional city Kashmir to a modern place Chandigarh. Let us know how? JW Marriott-Chandigarh and Chef Rehman Mujeebur conjoined together and is doing 10 days Kashmiri food festival. Not only this, he has sent two Khansamas from Kashmir to cook it for the people of Chandigarh.
Those Khansamas are not professional chefs who has been passed out from any of the hotel management institutes, but they cooked authentic Kashmiri cuisines whether being that very famous Mutton Roghan Josh, Goshtaba or Methi Chaman. The aroma could be smelled all around Cafe@JW. As soon as I entered into the premises I saw guests were enjoying those food, kids were loving that atmosphere, on the other hand JW Marriott were taking care of all the SOPs.
Let’s now come to the person who was managing many affairs at the same time. Yes, I am talking about the backbone of JW, the Executive Chef Sanjeev Rajan who was looking after the entire affairs going on at the same time, the restaurant, the bar, the bakery, the banquet, etc. Everything he was looking on his toes. For so long I was there but, I didn’t see him sitting or resting all the time, Chef Sanjeev was moving from one operation to the other, then back to the Cafe. Apart from him entire service staffs were very active, they knew their jobs perfectly. Chef-De-Cuisine Nikhil and Chef Rishad were perfect at attending all guests. I was there to cover the event, they were equally giving us their valuable time. On the other hand if we speak about the guests, they were so dedicated and confident towards the food and hospitality of JW Marriott that, they took early dinner and specially those who came from try-city, they left early to obey the night curfew.
Well, I would say that there are still few days left for Kashmiri food festival to last so, don’t waste a single day’s time, just book a bench at dinner time from 7:30PM, only at JW. Marriott-Chandigarh. Lastly, I would once again like to add that, Khansamas who came down all through from Kashmir were amazing cooks and Chef Rehman Mujeebur who spotted these gems from the crowd and brought them to the most renowned place of the nation was his best decision!
