Read the interesting question and answer session with young chef Samaira Bhasin.

1) Tell us about yourself, stating your family, education .and rewards you have received in cooking or baking?

Young Chef Samaira Bhasin: My name is Samaira Bhasin and I’m 11 years old. I’m currently in VI standard. My father is a chef himself and my mother was a hotelier and now helps managing businesses. My brother is currently in XII class.

I got featured in a few magazines and newspapers. It all started at the beginning of this year, my mother and I participated in an online cooking competition. We were supposed to prepare a dish with the ingredients provided to us and we ended up making pancakes.

2) You are into multiple activities but, mostly seen into baking or cooking, hasn’t it become a hindrance to your studies?

Young Chef Samaira Bhasin: No, I don’t see my passion for cooking become a hindrance to my studies. I have made sure that my studies stay my priority and since cooking can only take 2-3 hours at max, it makes it easier for me to give the rest of my time to studies. When I know I have an exam on Monday, I make it a point to give my weekend to studies.

3) How did you get into cooking and what do you like about it?

Young Chef Samaira Bhasin: I remember when I was around 5 years old, our school used to arrange activities like “cooking without fire”. My friends and I used to make sandwiches together. Recently I remember making one for my father. It’s my father who has inspired me to try new recipes.

As of now, all I can do is help my father around. I’m more into making deserts than making a normal course meal. And my favorite part of cooking has to be the fact that I get to finish it by the end.

4) Apart from cooking what do you like to do the most?

Young Chef Samaira Bhasin: Apart from cooking, I enjoy dancing, writing and also hanging around with my friends. During this pandemic, I enjoy cycling, playing online games and even video calling with my friends. Sometimes I like having my friends over to my house to have fun with them.

5) Give one recipe for your signature dish.

RECIPE: MANGO MOUSSE by: Young Chef Samaira Bhasin.

Mango pulp of one mango, mixed with 75 gm mascarpone cheese.

Fold 150 gm sweetened whipped cream.

Set in glass and refrigerate to set.
