HEAD CHEF TEEKARAM’S TOUR TO EUROPE IN ORDER TO EXPLORE AUTHENTIC INDIAN RESTAURANTS IN FRANCE: BY KHATIBAH REHMAT.

In the last week of August this year, he travelled to four countries just in a quest to find the remarkable Indian restaurants in the world and started from Netherlands then travelled towards Germany, then to France and later on to Belgium. He was continuously searching Indian mark in other parts of the world and moreover, his main concern was to find how other people like our food stuffs? Well, his name is Chef Teekaram Singh and is a Head Chef at a restaurant in Netherlands. Recently, he made a plan to see Indian cuisines with International eyes. So, immediately decided to step out of Amsterdam and travelled to three more countries. His, journey didn’t turn into a flop show, as he moved to France and saw a 30 years old Indian restaurant named Shahi Mahal. This was the best Lucknowi restaurant in the heart of the city of France. After having a bite of those foods, his quest for Indian cuisines lasted well.

Chef Teekaram Singh told about the flavours and aroma of those food stuffs that if anyone passes through the streets nearby, then they can’t stop themselves from that aromatic atmosphere outside of Shahi Mahal who’s foods are so delicious, which automatically tends a person to enter inside. The same thing happened with chef Teekaram who also entered inside the restaurant and began to read their menu. He placed his order and ate those tantalizing cuisines of Lucknow in France, it was so delicious that he felt like, he was in the city of Nawabs. Those foods were really SHAHI as per the name of the restaurant Shahi Mahal. He further told that, he ate Lamb seekh kababs, Lamb Qorma, Cheese Naan and Zafrani Pulaao. The taste was so delicious that he was speechless to have such an outstanding restaurant in France which serves Indian cuisines at it’s best.

Chef Teekaram Singh has now decided to meet the owner of the place. He couldn’t stop himself praising him for the food he prepares. So, the man behind this tantalizing taste came out and introduced himself as Mr. Asad Mahmood and told him that he is the chef and the owner of this place called SHAHI MAHAL. Later, chef Teekaram Singh also told him that he himself is a chef and is now on a tour to find best Indian food in other countries as well. Mr. Asad Mahmood a Pakistani national runs a Lucknowi restaurant in France. He told chef Teekaram Singh that the spices are the same which were used by the Nawabs of Lucknow and is ground by their family members at home and no readymade masalas are used at their restaurant. He added that they have given 30 years to this place and has won the hearts of many gourmets in these past years. Chef and the owner Mr. Asad Mahmood told Chef Teekaram Singh that last year he has opened a new branch in other part of the city and is hoping for its success and planning to come up with many other branches in future.
