HOW AT MAJLIS RESTAURANT IS BRINGING AUTHENTIC OLD DELHI AND RAMPURI CUISINE TO MODERN NOIDA: A Report By Khatibah Rehmat (Senior Journalist).
My recent visit to At Majlis Restaurant in Sector 104, Noida, offered a rare opportunity to experience the forgotten culinary legacy of Osama Jalali, a journalist-turned-chef born in Old Delhi. Having spent years away from his roots, Chef Jalali longed for the authentic recipes once prepared by his mother and grandmother. His vision was clear: to revive the true flavours of Old Delhi and Rampur and make them accessible beyond historic lanes. With At Majlis, he has recreated a cultural and gastronomic bridge, offering Delhi NCR diners an immersive journey into heritage cuisine without leaving the city’s modern landscape.

Chef Osama Jalali and Senior Food Journalist Khatibah Rehmat are dining in at At Majlis Restaurant, Noida.
The culinary experience at At Majlis is deeply nostalgic and meticulously curated. From the refreshing guava mocktail that evoked memories of traditional drinks from Allahabad (Prayagraj) to the signature Rampuri danedaar salan, every dish reflected authenticity and emotional depth. The mutton seekh kebabs stood out for their richness and perfect balance of spices, while the vegetarian platter featuring paneer, mushrooms and hara bhara kebabs proved equally exceptional. Chef Jalali’s Nalli Nihari and traditional khameeri roti further elevated the experience, showcasing culinary techniques rooted in Old Delhi’s heritage. Each offering was not merely a dish but a carefully preserved story of India’s timeless food traditions.

One of the most delicious Phirini.
Beyond cuisine, At Majlis impresses with its regal interiors inspired by Old Delhi’s haveli culture. Antique elements, royal portraits and intricately designed furnishings create an atmosphere of refined elegance. The handcrafted wooden doors sourced from Saharanpur, vintage washbasins and crystal accents reflect extraordinary attention to detail. The staircase evokes the charm of historic mansions, while the warm hospitality enhances the overall dining experience. Chef Jalali has successfully built more than a restaurant — he has created a cultural destination. For those seeking authentic Old Delhi and Rampuri cuisines in a sophisticated setting, At Majlis stands as a must-visit culinary landmark worth reserving immediately.
