IETA, A SWITZERLAND BASED NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION CONDUCTS THREE-DAYS ASIA CLIMATE SUMMIT IN THE COUNTRY CAPITAL FROM 22-24 OCTOBER, 2024: A REPORT BY: KHATIBAH REHMAT, SENIOR JOURNALIST.

IETA means International Emissions Trading Association which is a non-profit organization of Geneva, Switzerland who is conducting a three-day Asia Climate Summit in New Delhi, India where people from around the world were present to be in association with IETA. This organisation has been operational since 1999 and works as the voice of business on ambitious, market based climate change solutions etc.
They also work for trading systems for emissions reduction and removals that are environmentally robust, fair, open, efficient, accountable, and consistent across national boundaries. When someone becomes the member of IETA, then they join a network of over 300 leading international organisations and gain access to vital policy insights, advocacy opportunities and a robust network of professionals dedicated to environmental sustainability.

IETA’s mission is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at the lowest cost while building a credible path to net-zero emissions. They welcome all to join them in shaping a sustainable future and transform challenges into opportunities. The International Emissions Trading Association or IETA represents carbon investors, project developers and technical experts. Their goal is to support large-scale emissions reductions to combat climate change. The IETA believes that emissions trading is effective because it’s economically efficient, delivers a clear price signal and is designed to deliver an environmental objective. A special interactive session was conducted for the media persons as well which was on carbon markets in Asia.

This workshop for press and media was an overview of carbon markets across the region, shed light on the evolution of voluntary markets and cover the latest regarding the Carton Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and impact on India and the region. Lynne Backhouse, Communications Manager-IETA was also present there to facilitate the media persons also she gave a summary and closing remarks. IETA was very kind and humble enough for such delicious food for the entire delegates. The event was very informative and an opportunity to connect to the world. Last but not the least I would like to thank FICCI from the entire team of REFT Today who trusted and invited us to do a media coverage for the event.
