CHEF ANIRBAN DASGUPTA SHARES TIMELESS CULINARY LESSONS FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF CHEFS: Part-8

Wednesday, 29/July/2026: Chef Anirban Dasgupta believes that culinary excellence is built upon knowledge, discipline and a deep respect for history and culture rather than the pursuit of instant success. Addressing aspiring chefs entering the hospitality industry, he emphasises that mastering culinary skills requires patience, continuous learning and an understanding of India’s rich gastronomic heritage. According to him, a chef is not merely responsible for preparing food but is a creator who shapes memorable dining experiences through passion, innovation and responsibility. He encourages young professionals to cultivate positive thinking, embrace creativity and work tirelessly towards excellence while remaining committed to environmental sustainability. Chef Anirban believes that every culinary professional has a responsibility to minimise food wastage, respect natural resources and contribute towards a greener future. His philosophy reflects the belief that dedication, humility and perseverance eventually create a lasting legacy in the culinary world.

Chef Anirban Dasgupta’s journey into the hospitality industry was inspired by the unwavering support of his family and the guidance of exceptional mentors. Although he is the only member of his family to pursue a professional culinary career, his decision was strengthened after enrolling in hotel management where two distinguished professors, Chef Sanjeev Bose and Chef Arijit Sarkar, profoundly influenced his professional outlook. Their passion for teaching, commitment to culinary excellence and unwavering discipline inspired him to dedicate himself wholeheartedly to the profession. For Chef Anirban, wearing the iconic white chef’s coat has always symbolised pride, responsibility and positive energy. It serves as a daily reminder of the values of integrity, professionalism and continuous self-improvement that define a successful chef and motivate him to uphold the highest standards of culinary excellence.

Reflecting on his professional career, Chef Anirban Dasgupta acknowledges that every successful chef encounters challenges, workplace politics and demanding situations inside a professional kitchen. However, he believes that resilience and a positive mindset are far more valuable than negativity or distraction. Instead of engaging in unnecessary gossip or allowing obstacles to hinder his progress, he has consistently chosen to focus on learning, teamwork and professional growth. He also highlights that maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in a busy restaurant is often more demanding than cooking itself. Achieving excellence requires coordinated teamwork, strict adherence to food safety standards, proper utilisation of kitchen equipment and effective waste segregation practices. Through these principles, Chef Anirban continues to inspire the next generation of culinary professionals to build meaningful careers found on discipline, respect and excellence.
