WORLD URDU DAY AND A UNIVERSAL AFFAIR, AN AFFORT MADE BY ADVOCATE DEEBA SALAM: BY TANISHQA GARG.

TANISHQA GARG:
How did you tell people about Urdu day?

DEEBA SALAM: The concept behind Urdu day is to promote the language and let this generation know about it. People from different states of India and few parts of the world joined together and became a part to celebrate this day virtually by using all social media platforms (this time).

TANISHQA GARG:
So what will be your goals to make people aware about this day?

DEEBA SALAM: Make this language known amongst those people who want to learn, but don’t know anything about it. For this, first and foremost step would be to speak with them in Urdu and connect through social media and also teach them in the most easiest ways.

TANISHQA GARG:
How important is it to promote Urdu in today’s divided context?

DEEBA SALAM: Divided context is quite a big issue because, several people are stereotypes over this language. They belong to certain region or specific religion which rules over them. But, to take out people from this thought process, we must come forward and teach them that, a language never belongs to any religion, caste or creed.

People from round the globe are coming forward to be a part of this day:
Syed Akhter Azmi,
Coordinator-Urdu Subject,
D.P.S. Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

TANISHQA GARG:
What advice would you like to give to those people who have always been enamoured by this language but never got to learn it?

DEEBA SALAM: So many people round the globe are influenced with Urdu language by listening to the Ghazals and Poems which attracts them so much that they are lost into it. For these type of people we must run a chain to teach them Urdu and make it common amongst all.

TANISHQA GARG:
Nowadays, people only know about English day or Hindi Diwas (day), if they do not know about Youm-E-Urdu (Urdu day), then what will you do to make people know about it?

DEEBA SALAM: Everyone knows the famous Urdu poet Iqbal, he was born on November 9th. As he has given a lot to us through his Urdu poems, so with due respect to him, we regard this day in his memory, though officially this day has not been declared as Urdu day yet. This is indeed a beautiful language and it should be spread throughout the world.
